A piece of history

Last week I got myself a mosin nagant 91/30 rifle. I had already shot the rifle once before when I was considering buying it from my friend, to make sure everything was there and in working order.
The ten days I had to wait for this beauty seemed to take forever but it was well worth the wait. The rifle was produces towards the end of WW2 in
Butt plate serial
Bolt  serial
Magazine cartridge serial, possibly re-stamped.
1943, has matching matching serial numbers but the bayonet sadly does not. Its not much of a collectors item anyways as it is a late war Izhevsk production with a round receiver. matching serial numbers but the bayonet sadly does not. Its not much of a collectors item anyways as it is a late war Izhevsk production with a round receiver. Because of its late production date and pristine condition of the near century old rifle I highly doubt it has been used in combat but love the firearm regardless.
With the bayonet this thing is around 4 feet long!
I already have plans to mount a scope and work the stock and hand guard to allow the rifle to reach its full potential, but for now I am just happy cleaning out all the cosmoline and getting ready to go shooting with it again.

Organic origins

Today I decided to try my hand in the world of blogging. I am completely inexperienced in the world of web publishing with the exception of a couple school projects and the occasional updating of the website of my place of work. Because of this I've decided to start this organically without a predetermined goal in mind. That is not to say I don't have certain expected topics that will be explored in my posts. My life revolves around photography, electronics, and saltwater reef tanks. So these are likely going to be the bulk of what I post about, but hopefully within a reasonable time I would like to boil this down into a single topic.

So to start things off fun and exciting I will start with my new years experience in the Southern California desert with a group of my friends and an awesome photo I had the luck of taking. The exposure time was set to about 2 seconds and the ISO bumped up all the way on my buddy Nic's canon T1i. After the fact I spent a couple minutes adjusting the photo to help reduce as much of the grain as possible from the high ISO.

I never got a chance to really go through the photos taken that night because they were all taken on other peoples cameras since I forgot to charge my T3i's battery before the trip, but I can guarantee more photos hopefully of a higher quality are going to be the norm for this blog.
